Most women can’t wait to be able to show off their new last name. They usually enjoy a barrage of gifts at their bridal shower and bachelorette party touting their new “Mrs. Smith” name on them. The first time you get a piece of mail with Mr. and Mrs. Smith is exciting and the first time someone addresses you by your new name can make you smile from ear to ear.
But with a name change comes a lot of paperwork! Here is a helpful list of all the places to be sure to change your name! You will need a Certified Copy of your Marriage License for most! Most counties will give you one copy of this when you apply for your marriage license.

- U.S. Postal Service (if you are moving or have a PO Box)
State Forms
- Driver’s License: You will need to take your driver license, marriage certificate and current Social Security card into a Deputy Registrar office and purchase a new license with the name change. Oh and don’t forget your passport! If you are booking a honeymoon out of country you should be ok with your maiden name. Most people don’t change their names on their official documentation before leaving for their honeymoon but in the case you are delaying your honeymoon until later don’t forget this important document. Your passport name must match your driver’s license/identification.
